International Education In The Context Of Internationalization Of Higher Education

Internationalization of Higher Education is a process of integrating transnational and transcultural view with teaching, researching and social service; and it is a process of one country developing his own higher education in the field of basic theories, international activities andlaunching mutual educational communication and cooperation. It mainlyincludes international educational theory, international educational goal, and international exchange of stuff.Overseas education, as an important part of internationalization of higher education, has developed rapidly recent years. And its function has enlarged from the ever only training personnel to developing economy, physics and culture. Furthermore, overseas education has become a sharp weapon of developed countries to spread educational market and extend international influence. The main factors affecting international overseas education include inter-countries physical and economical relationship, thedeveloping level of science and technology, higher education system,general level and the level of internationalization, overseas policies.As a result of enormous physical, economical and cultural profit in the international overseas market, countries in the world has formulated series of overseas policies in order to devote major efforts to developing overseas education, such as setting up special organizations, carrying out a lot of encouraging policies, innovating education and teaching. There is much in their policies that our country can make use of in the process of developing overseas education market.Our country's overseas education has a history of more than one hundred years. Especially since the opening-up reform, overseas education in our country has been flourishing. In the25 years since 1978,the number of Chinese students studying abroad has reached more than 583,000, dispersing in more than 100countries and areas in the world. From 1979 to 2000, about 394,000 international students studied in Chinese institutions. But generallyspeaking, we are facing serious drain brain, not fully dev eloped market offoreign students studying in China and cultural ecological crisis.With the development of our country's economy and our country's joining the WTO, overseas education in our country will develop steadily, that is more and more Chinese students studying abroad will come back to China, the students studying abroad and foreign students studying in China will increase greatly too.
