In the past few decades, education reform has swept most countries all over the world. One of he major trends of the movement which is popular in western countries has been school-based management,it become the new tide of school reform and development.School-base management also named as site -based management. Scholars have various definitions, and the practices from many countries have diffierent characteristics.The common point is the emphasize on decentralization and shared dicision-making from various stakeholders.The practice of school-base management in the United States has been a representeive paradigm and has substantial influnces in the world. We can learn more from the expriences and lessons of the practices in U.S. This thesis explore the backgrounds, the various foundmental theories, the diffirent conception, the typical modles of the practices in the U.S.,and provide some cases . In addition, we inditify the benefits of school-based management,the key elements of sucsessful school-based management and the lessons from failure schools.Generally speaking, there isn't a best version of SBM for all schools,and it is not a catholicon for every illness.The sucsess of SBM depends upon many surportting conditions. We should understand and practice the SBM structurely and systemly as a platform of school reform and development.
