With the development of international economy and the establishment of the strategy of prospering the nation with science and education, China started a new basic education curriculum innovation and chemistry certainly is important part of it. The standards of the curriculum clearly require education to make all students to develop harmoniously in the three aspects of knowledge and skills, process and methods, emotions and attitudes. All amis start from scientific inquiry and all that should improve student's science literacy. However, the most experiments of current chemistry textbooks in the high school are verification experiments and cannot help student to experience the process of getting knowledge. That experiments have little the functions of enlightenment and inquiry. So it is difficult to exert the multiple function of experiment in cultivating the students' scientific accomplishment. But inquiry experiment can stimulate the learning interest of student and can help student come into being scientific values and attitude of seeking truth from facts and excite their potential. This thesis discusses the design of inquiry experiment in middle school from the two aspects of theory and practice. This dissertation comprises four parts.The first part interprets the relevant concepts such as inquiry, inquiry experiment and the design of inquiry experiment. In this part also discusses the principles and the strategies of selecting the title of the inquiry experiment design and researches the valuation about the design of inquiry experiment.The second part discusses the theory bases of the design of inquiry experiment. Inquiry experiment emphasize that educates students' ability of innovation. The chemistry experiment we designed, which based on the theories of constructivism and brain science, should be not only fit for the students but also be beneficial to their innovation and development.The third Part discusses the teaching functions of the design of inquiry experiment hi the angles of teachers and students. In fact, the design can promoteteachers' educational ideas and teaching methods, and promote student's learning idea and style.The last part constructs the design mode of chemistry inquiry experiment of the middle school and comments on the two selected cases, combining the theories of design of inquiry experiment.
