The article mainly discusses the course of development of educational modernization in the middle part of Jiangsu since later period of Qing Dynasty. And on this base, the author probes into some matters interrelated educational modernization. The aim is to reveal the route and status of Jiangsu educational modernization and to get a deeper understanding for people as to characteristics which lie in the course of Jiangsu educational modernization. The paper makes a systematic observe and study to educational modernization of Jiangsu in a small range but deep level. It will provide a reference data for study educational modernization of Jiangsu province and even the whole nation.Employing Marxist dialectical materialism and historical materialism as guide to make a systematic study to the course of development about educational modernization in the middle part of Jiangsu, The author does the research with comparison method, information method, illustration method and positive method. It consists of four chapters as well as preface and conclusion.In the preface, the author defines modernization and expounds the purpose of study, giving an account of the significance of the research, introducing the former results, the present state and limitation of the research, also pointing out the characteristics and difficulty points of this paper. At last, the author summarizes content and methods of the text.Chapter one is premise and preparation of educational modernization in the middle part of Jiangsu. firstly, the author sets forth the present state and crisis of traditional education, secondly, introduces the enter of the west nation and polarization of traditional education, thirdly, elaborates invading of modern factors of education and influence, forth, expound resistance to transition from old fogy.Chapter two is ferment and firing of educational modernization of the middle part of Jiangsu. At the first place, the author discusses the four motive forces, later relates formation of modern educational system, thirdly, summarizes some characteristics in the course of development about early educational modernization in the middle part of Jiangsu, at the last, draws up achievement of early stage.Chapter three, choice of educational modernization in the middle part of Jiangsu, Firstly, elaborates the conformity of educational modern factors in the middle part ofjiangsu, talking about necessary condition of educational modern development, regulation , rule of education, expenditure of education and teachers etc. At same time, the paper sets forth increase of modern education factors.
