Young college students are the future constructor of this country and the successor of the socialist cause. Upon them rests the prospect of this nation's prosperity and the success of the cause we are engaged in. All this is predicated upon how their ideological thinking is going on. How to instruct and cause them to be the competent constructor and successor of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics is a challenging task, which has far-reaching influence strategically.Since the adoption of the opening policy, the mainstream of the ideological thinking of the contemporary college students is positive, healthy and uplifting. However, the profound changes in home situation and abroad, pose a challenge to instructing the young college students in their ideological thinking, while affording it the favorable conditions. Under the new circumstances, How to intensify and improve the instruction of the college students in their ideological thinking is a pretty pressing task confronting us. At the third session of the 16th congress held at the end of last year, the Chinese Communist Party formulated the theory of scientific development, from the perspective of both history and our time. The formulation of this theory is the development of Marxist theory of development, which keeps paces with the times. This theory dictates the guidelines for the all-round construction of a fairly well off society and also for the instruction of college students in their ideological thinking. This paper's thesis is "to master and implement the theory of scientific development with a view to intensifying and improving the instruction of college students in their ideological thinking." This paper discussed in detail how to feasibly and effectively intensify and improve the instruction of the college students in their ideological thinking in light of the theory of development, with a view to graduating qualified talents for the- cause of all-round construction of fairly comfortable society featuring sustainable development. This paper consists of three parts:Part 1: the urgent need of intensifying and improving the instruction of college students in their ideological thinking.In view of the great changes in home situation and abroad confronting the instruction of college students in their ideological thinking, the objective of all-round construction of a fairly well-off society, the thrust of the newly-generalized educational policy formulated at the 16th congress of the communist party and the week links in the instruction of collegestudents in their ideological thinking, the author considered it a consequential and urgent task to intensify and improve the instruction of the college students in their ideological thinking.Part 2: the importance attached to the correct understanding of the theory of the scientific development and the requirements concerning the instruction of the college students in their ideological thinking in light of this theory. The author explained the thrust of the theory of scientific development and considered it essential to carry on the activity in instructing the college students in ideological thinking according to the objective law inherent in it. The author also pointed out the requirements concerning the instruction of college students in ideological thinking from the pragmatic point of view.Part 3: intensifying and improving the instruction of college students in ideological thinking according to the theory of scientific development.
