This thesis regards the defining intension of university students' scientific and technological literacy as the theory to rely on .It deeply analyzes the current situation of contemporary university students' scientific and technological literacy and origin cause of formation. On this basis, it proposes some countermeasures further improving contemporary university students' scientific and technological literacy. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part analyzes contemporary university students' scientific and technological literacy, it is a theoretical foundation of the thesis. This part is based on the concept of scientific and technological literacy .It gives synoptic argumentation to definition, general structure and evaluation criterion of scientific and technological literacy. On this basis, it analyzes the characteristic of the time, content characteristic and subject characteristic of the scientific and technological literacy that contemporary university students should possess. The second part analyzes current situation of the contemporary university students' scientific and technological literacy. This part begins with the depiction of the current situation of university students' scientific and technological literacy in domestic some provinces, including Beijing, Jiangsu and Guangzhou. Then, it mainly observes the current situation of university students' scientific and technological literacy in Shanghai. It describes the train of thought, method and main content which questionnaire is designed and carries on overall analysis from different angles to the investigation result. Finally, this part pointes out the main weak spots of contemporary university students' scientific and technological literacy.The third part of the thesis proposes improving the countermeasures of contemporary university students' scientific and technological literacy on the basis of the first and second part. It begins with deep analysis to the origin cause of current situation of university students' scientific and technological literacy. Then, it puts forward the corresponding feasibility countermeasures to the outstanding problems in current situation of university students' scientific and technological literacy.
