On the 10th World Cup in 1974, the sliding tackle technique of and outstanding football team of Europe and South America becomes the effective weapon that contains the one-to-one fast breaking through and the " super player ". From that time, this highly difficult technique is adopted widely more and more. Now, the speed of football match becomes faster, and it is violent to strive for the ball, so it is more common to use the sliding tackle technique. It becomes more and more important whether in defense or in attack. It has already developed from past destructive sliding tackle to today's offending sliding tackle; it has already developed from the sliding tackle used by back defenders to tackle and block to the sliding tackle used by midfielder and the forward to pass and shoot etc. Thus the sliding tackle becomes a sharp weapon in defense and attack. So, it is essential to research the law of the sliding tackle adopted in the football match, especially the substantial results and rationality of the sliding tackle technique.Based on "the routine technical statistics", taking the method of Doctor Hans Pferd Lotz Unterseite, who is the director and chief lecturer of FIFA technical department, and the suggestions of soccer expert and scholar as the reference, the thesis sets the statistical standard. Taking the 17th World Cup and the 12th EuropeCup as the research object, and using the methods of document-data, inquiry-interview, logic, observation, and mathematical-statistics, the thesis observes and analyzes the application of sliding tackle in the matches separately, and finds out the characteristics and law of the application of sliding tackle in the high-level football matches such as World Cup and Europe Cup, so as to offer the evidences for the improvement of scientific training and teaching in the future. The research results are:1 The application of sliding tackle in World Cup and Europe Cup is frequent at the beginning of the match, and with the proceeding of competition, it has a trend of decline. The way of application of sliding tackle in World Cup and Europe Cup is similar from integral level.2.ln Europe Cup and World Cup, the sliding tackle appears most in backcourts, second in midfield, and the least in fore court. In the middle way it is the most, and on both sides, it is relatively equal. The players take sliding tackle most in the area A2 (penalty area) and A5 (out of penalty area). They take sliding tackle less in the fore court, but it plays an important role in the matches, especially the sliding tackles for shot in front of the goal expresses the characteristics of moving fast and controlling large areas.3.The sliding tackle is mainly a kind of defending technique, which is adopted by defenders and midfielders. The forward and goalkeeper adopt sliding tackles less, but it will play a valid role at the crucial moment. So the forwards and goalkeepers must master this key technique proficiently.4. In Europe Cup and World Cup, the success rate and efficient rate of sliding tackle improve sequentially from fore field to midfield and backfield. No matter in Europe Cup or World Cup, there is no significant difference in success rate of fore field, midfield and backfield, but there is significant difference in efficient rate between fore field, midfield and backfield. The success rate and efficient rate of sliding tackles of players in different position of Europe Cup are higher than the counterparts of World Cup, which proves that the technical level of the player of Europe Cup is higher than that of World Cup slightly.5.In the midfield and the mid way, the offence rate and the proportion of offence are the most in Europe Cup and World Cup. The sliding tackle is used most in backcourt, but the result is best and the offence rate and card-received rate are the lowest. In the mid way, the sliding tackle is adopted most, but the result is better compared with wings—the offence rate and card received rate are the lowest. The defender and midfielder take sliding tackles most frequently, and the offence rate and card-received rate of midfielder...
