Chinese is one of the few fundamental subjects, and the most basic for all the other subjects. Its knowledge is basic, working as the means and media during the course If the acquisition of scientific and cultural intellectual as well as a tool for communication and understanding. For junior middle school students, if they don't get a high level in Chinese learning, it is certain that their learning quality and communication activities will be affected, and further, their future development will be limited thereafter.By careful statistics analysis of the junior Chinese examination results during the years 1997—2002 in Chenggong County, it is discovered that the junior middle school students in Chenggong got a low Chinese learning degree, showing an overall downward trend after the movement of making junior middle school education universal and a deeper degree of dispersion, that different schools' Chinese learning level stayed comparatively stable compared with the average degree of the whole county, and amarked inter-school difference occurred, the Chinese examination results of Junior Grade Three were related to individual schools, that teachers of Chinese of different professional titles gained different teaching effect, and first-class teachers didn't get better effect than second-class teachers. The analysis also shows that teachers of different ages obtained different teaching effect, which declined after going up with the advance of the age. The main factors of the above-mentioned situation are the family, the society, teaching facilities, teachers' quality and learning motive. Besides, the non-academic professional titles, the lack of encouraging means, the teachers' growth law and the training of teachers should be taken into account. Consequently, the improvement ought to be made in the above aspects in order that means and methods will be found in raising the teaching results of teachers of Chinese, in prolonging their peak period of teaching effect, and in promoting the balanced development of the individual school's Chinese learning level and the students' learning level, laying solid foundations for the students' future development.
