After "Nine - Year Universal Compulsory Education", the rate of discontinuance from study is still very high during the stage of compulsory education in poor countryside because of the influence and restriction from internal, external and other factors. We often see some children who should have gone to school wandering about or helping his or her parents doing farming in the villages at XunDian Autonomous county of Hui and Yi Nationalities where I have worked. Through further research, I find it is quiet different from the result of the Universal Education, there is a serious problem for the rate of discontinuance from study. This problem has become the difficulty to strengthen the result of "Nine - Year Compulsory Education" and the weak link to develop the rural compulsory education. It has become the pressing task for rural compulsory education to search for the further reasons for this problem and to pat forward a way to guard against or control it.
