Family Environment Affect Students' Creativity And Academic Research

There are many factors which influence the creativity and achievement of middle school students. The family is one of these factors.The judge about relations between the family, creativity and achievement is blurry and qualitative. To make clear the relations between the three, this dissertation measured the family environment and creativity of some students from city and countryside, achievement with FES-CV and creativity scale, and analyzed the correlativity of their family, creativity and achievement, tested difference in area, gender and grade. The research found that intellectual-cultural orientation, independence and active-recreational orientation, have positive correlativity with the creativity; Control has negative correlativity with the creativity. Independence and expressiveness have positive correlativity with achievement; the creativity is negatively correlated with achievement, because achievement doesn't reflect the creativity, that is to say, the test or schooling doesn't deal with the creativity's fostering. The expressiveness is very different between the male and female in middle school. There is notable difference in organization, achievement orientation and moral emphasis between students from city and countryside. Marked gender difference is there in creativity and achievement. At last, this dissertation advise parents to build a learning family, to respect their children, to trust their children, to understand their children, and harmonize their family, communicate with each other much more. The creativity-fostering must be strengthened in our schooling by translating the evaluating methods such as examination. Education must be integrated as soon as possible to avoid cultural difference between city and countryside. The educational system should be improved to make schoolboys and schoolgirls play their potential into play in whole hog. In the meantime, schools should mend family environment to develop students with families.
