With the pace of the world's entering the 21st century, the ability of English reading comprehension is more and more important. But the teaching in junior middle schools which focuses on this reading ability cannot keep the pace with the development of the economy of our country and the world. It has aroused great attention of the whole educational circle how to develop the ability of reading comprehension of middle school students. The writer decided to apply the "task-based approach" in the reading lessons in the junior middle schools in order to improve the ability of reading comprehension. The whole article is divided into six parts:1. The writer gives an account of the importance of why this research was done2. The rational about "task-based approach" and "reading" is relative tothe present research is stated. The writer points out the necessity and validity of carrying out the present research.3. Focus on the course of the present study. The writer introduces the factors of the experiment, including the aim, the material, and the procedure.4. Analyze the status gathered in the experiment.
