The researches on college communities before paid their main attention to the function and influences of the communities on campus culture, on the socialization of the students, and their supplementing function to conventional education. This thesis is to explore the positive influences of the special characteristics of the communities on the colleges, by doing researches on the moralizing and disciplining functions of the communities in the anomie college space.As a kind of social organization, communities have long existed. The earliest colleges developed just from communities, with many characteristics obviously derived from communities: having their own organizing principles, bylaws, members, and sites, with a clear objective to pursue profound knowledge. The developing history has not changed these basic characteristics of colleges which carry a strong community colour. According to the theories of Durkheim, communities are an important means to solve the sorts of social problems when economy becomes the dominating force of a society.
