Family is the basic condition for the growing and development of children and a normal and complete family plays a critical role in the children's healthy development. However, reviewing the past few years, it's found that the divorce ratio in China has been climbing up continuously, resulting in a larger number of single-parent families. It has been proved that children brought up in single-parent families present a poorer performance in the aspects of study, morality and psychology than those from complete families. With socialization as a critical stage in the children's psychology development and issues in this field popping out to be an important subject in the current education study, the research on the socialization of the children from single-parent families exhibits much significance. To carry out the study, the author first put forward the issue of poor socialization in the children from single-parent families, which is followed by the design of questionnaire and having the questionnaire completed. The interview is carried out in two separate groups of "single-parent families" and "complete families", the result of which approves the argument that children brought up in single-parent families is substantially poorer than those from complete families, which is shown in details that the former has a poorer competence in communicating with their parents, pals, teachers and other social members. In the last part, on the basis of relevant theories, the author put forward the strategies in accelerating socialization in these children from single-parent families. The purpose of the thesis is to advocate concern and attention in the society for the single-parent children to help them treat their families correctly and keep a more peaceful mood in accepting the multi-structure and living methods of their families, thus growing up happily and healthily.
