The system of College Entrance Examination has played a positive, irreplaceable role in maintaining stability of society, in selecting qualified personnel for colleges and universities, in offering a relatively fair, impartial and open opportunity of competition for all people as well as in promoting students working hard since it resumed in 1978. Since the all-round reformation of the College Entrance Examination began in 1985, it has become a hot topic. In the process of carrying forward the reformation, various of views have emerged, coexisting, intertwining, conflicting. Value orientation, as rational action orientation, has a great function of restricting people's practice. What value orientation we base on determines the trend of current and future reformation. People have had to ponder over what aim the reformation should achieve and which orientation it should go forward. Many researches have been made on the reformation till today, but most of them are focused on the discussion of the function of College Entrance Examination and specific reformation suggestions, lack of research on value orientation the reformation should base on. The due value orientation of the current reformation is the very research subject of this dissertation. To establish right value orientation, we must consider the development of the current society, which is the actual basis of the reformation, and we must draw lessons from history and gain enlightenment from other countries. Therefore, guided by dialectical materialism and historical materialism, through vertically analyzing the past and current reformation in our country and laterally studying the development of other countries' College Admission and Examination system to find out the trend of value orientation development, and through considering the current situation of our country's society and education development, this dissertation makes a systematic research on the value orientation of current College Entrance Examination reformation in China and explores the value orientation the current reformation should base on.
