Shanxi University Medical Digital Information Resources Survey And Analysis

With the development of health enterprise and the upgrading of academic level of Shanxi Province, the accelerated construction and optimization of the safeguard system of the medical information resources for the universities is required. However, the resources situation including the library collection structure and user requirement along with the efficiency is still unclear. So, aimed at these problems, in this paper an investigation and analysis of the distribution and using of digitalized medical information resources as well as the key users for universities of Shanxi Province was carried out in details, in order to provide basic data for the corresponding government to make an overall plan for the re-construction and optimization of the safeguard system of the shared digitalized medical information resources for the universities, to raise the using efficiency finally.The paper consists of five sections in which the highlighting problems existing in the construction of the digitalized medical information resources for the universities in Shanxi Province, the corresponding reasons along with the suggestions and tactics to improve user's satisfaction were discussed, respectively.In the fist section, a relatively wide investigation on the overall digitalized medical information resources of the universities in Shanxi Province was carried out. The results show there is an obvious gap among the universities in the construction of the digitalized medical information resources, indicating that there is lack of good cooperation and sharing among the universities as well as a repeated order and collection for the same database. In the second section, a comparative study on the difference of the digitalized medical information resources in the library between the two famous key universities (Beijing University and Fudan University) and Shanxi Medical University was done. The results indicated that an obvious difference between Shanxi Medical University with the above two key university lying in both the quality and the quantity showing that the construction of the digitalized medical information resources in Shanxi Province lagged. In the third section, an investigation and analysis on the demand ratio and document supporting ratio for the key user was studied. The results reveal that the construction of the digitalized medical information resources in Shanxi Medical University has got achievements and could meet the basic requirement for the majority of users. However, there are also existed some noticeable problems such as the individual services for the key users and the campus internet construction as well as the user training which need to be further reinforced .
