Reading teaching occupies a position of strategic importance in the Chinese teaching. Reading teaching owns a lot of teaching periods and holds most part of teaching load in the middle school stage. It is very important to pay more attention to the study of reading teaching. In the traditional reading teaching, teacher often neglects the principal status of student and uses spoon-feeding method. The interest for learning Chinese is weakened enormously .Independent study means that student construct a valuable environment or atmosphere to improve learning efficiency and promote self-development. Independent study is a new way which new curriculum proposes. This paper presents the tactics of independent reading teaching and teaching advices by making a thorough analysis of independent study theory. These tactics are as follows: first, to promote knowledge-obtaining, second, to promote the consolidation of knowledge, third, to stimulate intention of student, finally, to make use of a confused way in independent reading teaching. Some advices on reading teaching are included in this paper. For instance, to build a whole open Chinese class. to create a question-situation under the idea of independence.
