Multimedia Teaching System Failure Mode And Influencing Factors

With the deep development of educational modernization,all kinds of schools pay more and more attention to construct and use the multimedia system,so the number of multimedia instructional system increases,and the multimedia systems are the very important eduaction equipment of school's instruction. Multimedia instructional system is made up of many equipments,and in the life cycle,the fault can't be avoided ,the fault rate is high and many kinds of fault occur. When the fault occurs,it not only affects the performance of the equipment but also causes negative instructional influence,and also it increases the workload of maintenance and the cost of system's life cycle, because of these we must try to avoid the happening of fault. there are many kinds of fault causes;some are bad system configuration,some are bad setup test,some are badly maintaining,and some are the system's flaw itself,because of the complex of the kind and cause of the fault,the research mainly analyses the fault of multimedia instructional system,to find out the units or parts of the equipment that cause fault frequently and the important part of maintenace, and studies the fault mode,discipline and character,to make certain measures to avoid fault and increase the system reliability.By analysing the fault record of our school's 30 schoolrooms that contain the standard demonstrating multimedia system,buiding in 2002,2003,2004 and 2005,and the records mainly include fault time,fault unit,fault phenomenon and cause,fault parts,repared time,we use thes analysis to try to find out the units or parts of the equipment that cause fault frequently,analyse the system's fault modes and effects analysis upon these data, constructe reliable model,find out the flaw and weakpoint of the system ,and put forward certain measures when fault happens. In the second section(3-6,2006),we carried out and completed the measure used to deal with fault when happened,analysed fault record,and compared with the first section's data,finally we painted curved shape map of the fault discipline.By analysing,the main factors effecting the reliable of multimedia instructional system are quantity,maintenance and incorrect manipulation;in the first section the achieved availability reached 0.975,and with right maintaining and managing ,in the second section this ratio becomed 0.989. The weakpoints of system's maintenance are Lcds and computers;units that caused fault frequently are integrated controller,computer and display station. And the factor of incorrect manipulation changed in these two section;in the first section,the ratio was very high in the early semester,and decreased quickly,and after about 2 months the ratio was in a late level and became stable;in the second section this ratio is late and stable. The factor of maintenance depended on the right maintenance ,useless with the using time. And the factor of quantity was not so steady,the first used half a year,the fault ratio fell to late from high,and this condition became stable about 2 year and a half,but later half a year fault ratio raised,by changing some easily damaged item,the ratio fell to a late level finally.
