In July 2001, Education Department of China published Science Curriculum Standards of 3~6 grades. It's the first science curriculum standards of primary school, and means a bran-new starting for primary science education in China. Relative to the western developed countries, our country are only at the first step. This thesis compares and analyses the science curriculum standards of primary between New Zealand and China based on the importance of primary science education.There are four parts in this thesis all told: Part one explains the background and the development of primary science education in the world. Part two studies the content of Science in the New Zealand Curriculum, including the structure, the main aims and principles, content, the implementing and factors. As for part three, this thesis compares the main body of primaryscience curriculum standards------the basic ideology; the curriculum object; the content ofcurriculum and the implementing advices. After the detailed analysis, the last part presents the conclusions and revelations.
