In English Primary School Science Curriculum Standards Research

In 2000, Science in the National Curriculum was published by Department for Education and Employment and Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. In July 2001, Education Department of China published Science Curriculum Standards of 3～6 grades, It's the first science curriculum standards of primary school, and means a bran-new starting for primary science education in China. Early in 1988, the U.K. regarded the science as the core subject with great importance, and Chinese new science curriculum standards also attaches importance to science education of primary school.We live in such a age that science and technology develop in flying speed, science makes great changes to our lives, adjusts the contracture of our society and economy, and it also decides the competition power of each country. So that, the science education is charged with great responsibility to country's developing. All the educationists calling for science literacy, it's no time to delay for cultivating the science literacy in primary school. This thesis compares and analyses the science curriculum standards of two countries base on the importance of primary science education.In the first part of thesis, I narrate the development of primary science curriculum standards of China and the U.K., and account for the importance of primary science education; I compare the main body of primary science curriculum standards from part 2 to part 6, the basic ideology, the curriculum object, the content of curriculum, the evaluation and the implementing advices. After the detailed analysis, I present the conclusions and revelations. At last, I make some immature advices to our primary science curriculum reform.
