Learner Autonomy is of great significance in the students' development. New Curriculum Standard for Chinese Curriculum Standard requires teachers to change the traditional teaching methods and students to improve their learning by adopting Learner Autonomy methods. It also emphasizes that Chinese teaching should focus on whole person education instead of Chinese language only.After several years, the investigation into the students' learning ability show most of our Chinese classroom teaching are still "transmission" teaching which emphasizes on teaching Chinese language points rather than developing the students' ability to learn. This traditional teaching model can no longer adapt to the development and requirement of quality education in new situations.What kind of teaching model can achieve the goal set by The Chinese Curriculum Standard is a request on every Chinese teacher to pay sufficient attention to and research into. In this thesis, the author first defines the term of Learner Autonomy and the features of it, summarizes the factors that influence it. then puts forward the structure of Learner Autonomy. ability After reviewing the major classroom teaching models applied, the author constructs a classroom-teaching model to develop Chinese Learner Autonomy with the guidance of related theories on Learner Autonomy, The operation consists of the following procedures. First, students are required to do preview work designed by teachers beforehand, and then they discuss with each other the difficulties they come across. After that students are asked to bring forward difficulties that still remain and then the teacher gives relevant instructions. At last, students are given class work to consolidate what they have learned. In order to further illustrate the operation of this classroom-teaching model, the author also presents the process of teaching a lesson of senior high school Chinese as an example.The new model has been applied to teaching for an academic year. The results show that it is an effective way to stimulate the students' interest in learning Chinese, to help the students form a good habit of self-learning, to improve their learning results, and to develop the students' Learner Autonomy abilities.
