At the beginning of a new century many countries have launched education reform to meet the heat competition of science and teaching, so has Chinese done.We have also written a new style of books based on the revised curriculum. One of the outstanding characteristics of the new textbooks Is the way of representing various mathematics contents.At present , the function has permeated almost every branch of mathematics.The famous German mathematician R Kleln regarded function as the Spirit of mathematicians and the founadtionstone of miaddle school mathematics.The concept of function as well as its method of thinking has become one of major points of mathematics teaching In middle school.The forming of the concept of function,which Indicated the grand transition of thought way in Mathematics . The Transition is from constant Mathematics to variable Mathematics.And the application of function leads radical change in Mathematics.It mainly includes objects,theory,method and structure.When it come to the secondary Mathematics, function is important without doubt,It had becn the ligament of secondary Mathematics,but at the same time it had also become one of the most difficult concepts.Based on the importance and complexity of function, I have made a questionnaire about the function course as well as understanding about the function teaching .By compared People's Education Press,Beijing Teachers'University Press and Shandong Province Press,and at the same time introduced my function teaching ideas and the way how to help students to learn and understand the conception of function through analysing my teaching materials In thls paper.I used applied function as a example to show how to teach students to build a mathematical model dependent on their function knowledge and solve the actual problem.The paper makes some investigations on students about function studying.from the surveys,the author drew a conclusion:for students the concept of function is difficult to understand.Next,the author tries to make more analysis on the characters of function education from the two aspects:curriculum and instruction.The situation of teaching materal market'smonopolization is opened by many kinds of editions which not only let different districts select suitable teaching material in their own,but also offer spacious teaching space for teachers of various districts.
