Reading is the mother of study and one of the basic ways for people to obtain knowledge and information. It is more of an important approach to get the enlightenment from others'ideas to grow one's own thoughts. The Reading teaching is the main area for Chinese teaching. This article will make a thorough and deep discussion about the Individual Reading put forward by the New Course Reform, trying to change the bad teaching results by adopting the Individual Reading Teaching.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction, which mainly demonstrates the meaning of Individual Reading for Senior School, shows the related research for the Individual Reading, definites the related concepts and shows the means of study.The second part is the theoretical base of the research. It includes Acceptance Esthetics, Construction Theory on learning and Multiple IntelligenceThe third part mainly talks about the necessity and feasibility of using the ways of the Chinese Individual Reading Teaching in High School. Not only the modern society but also the New Course Reform calls for the Individual Reading Teaching. The teaching books in high-school period provided very good condition for students, the recent revision of the Chinese Reading Material also benefits students'individual reading. For senior students, the formation of independently analyzing and solving problems show that the senior students have been equipped with the ability of Individual Reading. It is feasible to carry out the Chinese Individual Reading.The forth part is individual survey of the reading situation for high school. We find high school students enjoy reading, and besides, they can and wish to read independently. But sometimes they are puzzled as well, because they are short of learning method and haven't form the proper reading habit of reading. According to the survey, we know individual reading teaching should be carried out.The fifth part demonstrates how to carry out the Chinese Individual Reading. First, a reading goal must be set. Second, teachers should use the teaching method of the Individual Reading and take the advantage of his own characters to train Individual Reading. Teachers should use many teaching methods freely so that the students are more interested in reading. What's more, teachers should be good at organizing a variety of reading activities, like making a speech before class, providing open reading classes, exchange reading, experience, a reading-method research class and so on.
