Secondary Education, The Employment Objectives Of Transmutation

The integration of career goal and college goal is the pursuit of American Secondary Education. But in fact, during balancing the two sides, the contradiction existed all the time and the career goal swayed with it. Although the educational system in China is different from American, when dealing with the contradiction between the career goal and the college goal, the two countries are similar in many ways. Using the methodology of literature research and comparative research and based on sufficient historical data, the dissertation tries to investigate the establishment, development and evolution of the career goal of American Secondary Education from a historical angle and aims to provide China with beneficial references and inspirations.The dissertation includes the preface and the key contents. The preface clarifies the significance and the feasibility of the dissertation by introducing such basic issues as the process of selection, basic conception definition, significance of the selected topic and present situations of research. All this expounding paves the way for the following. The key contents contain five parts:the first four parts straighten, induce and summarize the four historical phases of career goal of American Secondary Education from gestation, establishment, fluctuation and development. It was the gestation of the career goal that enriched and consummated Secondary Education. During this period, the high school's goal turned from single college preparation into coexistent Structure of college goal and career goal. From then on, in the conflict and merge of the two sides, American Secondary Education went through three stages: Latin Grammar School- Academy-comprehensive school, which was a process of transplant-development-innovation and it not only broke away from influence of dualistic educational system, but also formed into an educational system of its own characteristics. But during dealing with the problems of society, more and more social functions were put into high schools. Different organizations judged the educational goals from their own interests, which led to fluctuations of the career goal. In order to balance contradiction of the two sides and to fit for the development of the society, since the 1980's, career goal began to lay stress on foundation cultivating. It was not signifying that the educational goal trended towards college preparation, but was that college goal and career goal were getting integrated. The fluctuation of college goal and career goal outline this period of history, trying to trace the evolution of career goal of American Secondary education. After elaborating the history of career goal's evolution, the last part mainly talks about the inspirations for us. In author's opinion, at present, Secondary Vocational Education in our country should make full use of opportunities, in which the government universalizes the junior Secondary Education and our people require more and more education sincerely, and should get a clear understanding of the situation, follow the law, and deepen the reformation, in order to avoid negative effect on developing education because of the deviation in theory.
