It's been more than two thousand years since the idea of self-regulated learning was brought up. The theory of self-regulated learning has entered a comprehensive development period since 70s of the 20th century. To see from the available studies, self-regulated learning is an effective method being able to improve students'abilities for self-regulated learning, which lies not only in increasing students'scholarly achievements, but also in underlying the bases for an individual's life-long study and development. Since nineties, taking much count of teaching for students'abilities of self-regulated learning has been used as an important educational objective in all the counties.Using the particularity of physical education (PE) teaching and undertaking from the organizational form of it, the application of self-regulated learning in PE of middle school was brought up in this thesis, with theory investigation and practical study in test arrangement, test evaluation and test feasibility and so on. From the differences in the change of self-regulated learning abilities, physical performances and mastering of basketball skills between test class and control class, it is demonstrated that application of self-regulated learning in PE can promote students'self-regulated learning abilities, help the mastering of basketball skills, and improve students'physical performances to some extent. The methods of literature data, questionnaire, and mathematical statistics are used in the study.It can be seen from the results of study that with the application of self-regulated learning in PE teaching, the advancement of physical performances is different between test class and control class, with the greater advancement in test class, especially in the item of fifty meters; the mastering of basketball skills of test class is significantly better than control class; with the aging of the students, there is a rising tendency in the self-regulated learning abilities of PE as a whole in test class and control class, however, the integral level is not high; there are significant differences in the whole-quantity table of self-regulated learning of PE and the dimensions of study process and study methods between test class and control class with exception of dimensions of study results and study motives; there is a positive correlation between the grades of self-regulated learning and physical performances and a higher correlation between the grades of self-regulated learning and basketball.
