In recent years, interest of Lesson study is increasing in several advanced countries in the world. In China, Lesson Study traced to the teaching and research of traditional teaching system or even more distant educational exploration activities; In Japan, Lesson study is an important form in the professional development for teachers. In several Western countries, it has experienced from scratch, from the process of trying to promote, and this form of research is and will be placed on the education strategy level in some countries.Lesson Study in different country has the vary scope or concern but the similar essence. That is, the research groups talk about the teaching concepts and deal with some of the problems in teaching through collaborative design and teaching. On the base of literature, we try to analyze and speculate on the educational value of Lesson study bye the way of surveying Mathematics Lesson research group in several primary and secondary schools. For us, the important is not only to understand the connotation, procedures or significance of Lesson Study but finding out the teacher's development. We will explore whether providing teachers a professional development opportunities in a way of promoting teaching ; or even the specific performance.The first two parts, namely the background and overview of Lesson Study, the major concerns are Lesson study and the role of teacher professional development. The next two parts will discuss the impediments of Lesson study for teachers' development, and even how to overcome these factors. It involves also the specific areas in which to promote the growth of teachers, as well as the implementation in the future, that is, how to effectively implement the Lesson Study in teaching work. This part is the focus and that's going through case studies. The last part make a summary of the teacher professional development role in Lesson Study, and give recommendations of doing Lesson study.
