At present, the reform of our foundational education courses is pushed smoothly, and the core content of the foundational education reform is the course standard and textbook reform. Chemistry is a key science course during the middle school period, and the chemistry attainment has been an essential part of scientific literacy. In order to adapt the requirement of the development of times, our government stated to reform the chemistry course in senior high school from 2003, and the main procedure of the reform system project is to edit new chemistry textbook.Starting from the background of foundational education course reform, and on basis of the textbook edit theory, this article constructs the model for textbook analysis and comparing. And based on the model, it makes a complete analysis and comparing between chemistry textbook for senior high school in China (the basic standard experimental textbook ---Chemistry compulsory course①compulsory course②, people education press, 2004 version) and Canada ("Chemistry 11", printed by McGraw-Hill Ryerson company, 2001 version).Analyzing the utilization of the compulsory chemistry textbook for senior high school printed by people education press in Jiangsu experiment area, it gets the conclusion that the chemistry course reform in China is basically in consistence with the reform in the whole world; The new chemistry textbook reflects the course standard concept, and it is promoting the inquiry learning which realizes the human oriented, and it also attach importance to the link between knowledge and life experience, by doing this , to inspire the students' thirst for knowledge.By analyzing the characteristics of the compilation of chemistry textbook for senior high school between our country and other countries, learning from the success experience about the chemistry textbook compilation for senior high school, and combining with the true condition in our country, this article makes the constructive suggestion on the reform and development of the textbook in our country, and provides the basis for the implementing of the new course standard of senior high school chemistry and the further compilation of the new textbook.
