.1977 Years To Restore The College Entrance Examination System Research

The restoration of the National College Entrance Examination was a major event in the history of Chinese education. Still there is not much systematic studying on this subject in academia, as for that, it's a somewhat pioneering task for me to do this studying.This paper selected the Jiangsu province as the studying object, explained how this event happened and how it was carried out with empirical analysis and the methods of history. First, it introduced the historical background and the process of its coming out, in which emphasized on the planning and decision of the central government of the event. Second, came the main part of the paper: concrete preparing and implementing works of Jiangsu province that involved in this event, such as the publicity, signing up, taking the examination and selecting the candidates, etc. It also contained the detailed part of how the Jiangsu province making the policy according to the indicating of the central government. The final part of this chapter is the analyzing of figures and facts which consist in the enrolling numbers and applied majors of the colleges, in the choosing of the candidates and the sources of freshmen. At last it compared it with the conditions of the whole country. The last chapter mainly discussed the social and political influence of the event.The influence of the event is deep and profound. First, it restored the traditional notion that valued knowledge and intellectuals. Second, it restored the just and fair mechanism through which the talented people were selected. Third, it was a rehearsal of the Opening Up and Reform for which it built the basic foundation. Fourth, it meant that the social mobility mechanism was rebuilt and so had a effect of stabilizing the society.
