John Dewey was an important figure in modern education history. Dewey enjoyed a key influence in the world education history of transformation from traditional education to modern education.He's very knowledgeable and made great achievements in many fields,like sociology,philosophy,psychology, pedagogy and so on.So that,he always held more original,and more profound ideas.He made outstanding contributions to pragmatism.He created functional psychology and advocated the Democrative views on society. Against traditional duralism, Dewey drew the new concept of "experience" and led a progressive education movement. His curriculum thoughts have greatly influential in the United States and around the world. But there are still lots of misunderstandings on his thoughts today, which led to block the reforms of curriculum.Dewey' curriculum thoughts came from "experience". In order to understand it correctly, this article will analyse the theory basis ,the contents,the curriculum in the progressive schools.Meanwhile,we'U explore how it will inspire our new curriculum reform.AU the key points in this article will be divided into three parts:Dewey's experimental curriculum thoughts,the curriculum of the progressive schools,the inspirations to our curriculum reform. Among these points,we should put more stress on interpretion to his experience issue,the differences and similarities about schools between the Chicago Experimental school and other progressive schools.Only in this way ,we can practise Dewey's curriculum thoughts more smoothily and serve our curriculum reform much better.
