The ideological and political education in colleges and universities is the key constituent of the university education system in our country. It is a fine tradition and political advantage to highly value and to earnestly undertake the ideological and political education in China, which is the foremost content of cultural and ideological progress in our country, as well as one of the main solutions of social contradictions and questions. In the process of political and economic reform, the ideological and political education has made an enormous contribution to the support work in realm of thought and even to the social harmony.At present, all countries carry on their own ideological and political education under different names. By comparison in respects of contents, methods and goals of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in China and foreign countries in the new period, this article illustrates and analyzes the several aspects of similarities and differences, as well as the advantages and features of each country in this field. By doing so and following the developing tendency of the current ideological and political education the writer hopes to obtain some meaningful enlightenment on the current ideological and political education in colleges and universities in China and make this article play a positive role on framework perfection and increasing the actual effect of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in China.
