In February 1934, Chiang Kai-shek launched the New Life Movement in Nanchang, "The New Life Movement is a social education campaign." (Chiang Kai-shek said). What's the social education?Chiang believed that social education expanded the education scope, and popularized education. In social practical life, whether young and old, men and women, poor and wealth and so on, all the people, who did not have enough education, were the objects of the social education, in order to enhance the public education level, so that our social would be preferable. The New Life Movement was the practice of social education idea raised by Chiang Kai-shek, and the concentrated expression of his social education idea.Chiang Kai-shek interedted in social education, affected by "enlighten people" in modern time and Chinese traditional culture.In his view, if wanted to complete countyry national reunification,and wantd to make nation powerful and prosperous, he must moralize the public and open people's intellect, to change them into modern citizens. To realize the goal, the most simple and effective way was social education. Next, the Communism increasing rapidly was anthorter important reason for Chiang Kai-shek's social education.In Chiang Kai-shek's view, the outside Communism was increasing in China, due to weakness in people's traditional morality. Besides, the lack of traditional morality had led to people's lives backward. therefore, to change the status and eliminate the impact of the Communist Party, the effective way was giving social education to the public. The third, Chiang Kai-shek thought,social education can achieve the purpose in a short term. Because of the implementation of social education, Japan and Germany were powerful quickly due to social education. The subject factors also stimulated Chiang Kai-shek to carry out the social education.Chiang Kai-shek's social education idea was not a system theory, which was reflected in the following aspects mainly:Firstly, it asked people to change the laggard education, including daily behavior education and custom innovation education. By this way, people can abandon the old habits and bring up new customs in keeping with time; secondly, it asked people to upgrade their civilized behavior, including knowledge education and women education, which aimed to improve people's literacy and scientific level, and it asked women to get rid of the old shackles, to participate in social activities, and to develop their civilized life; Thirdly, after Marco Polo Bridge Incident, Japan launched a war aiming at perishing China, so protecting our nation became prior, and anti-Japanese patriotic education became the only content of social education idea.Chiang Kai-shek launched the New Life Movement trying to make people abandon the backward production life,and made a well-behavedmodern people, to same extent, increased the degree of people civilization;During the war, the New Life Movement empasized and propagated collectivesm and patriotismit, inspired our national consciousness and national sentiments and laid the foundation for the war; at the same time, At the same time, we should also see that Chiang Kai-shek too much emphasis on the role of morality, he should cultivate "modern people" does not accept the modern democratic thinking, only accept the Western way of life of advanced production and the new "obedient citizens." Thus, overall, Chiang Kai-shek's Social Education, though had a bit of new content, but did not break, "as the body, Western learning for" the idea category.
