The author is accomplished on the basis of 20-day's fieldwork in Alashan zuoqi of the inner Mongolia autonomous region. During the fieldwork, the author primarily used the method of participant observation, household interview, and fully learned and experienced the real complete picture of the cultural life of Mongolian Muslims.The dissertation includes seven chapters:The fist chapter gives a brief review to the past studies achievement about Mongolian Muslims as well as an introduction to methods used.The second chapter surveys the basic profile of Alashan zuoqi of inner Mongolia autonomous region, including geographical location and natural conditions, history, and the population distribution of Mongolian Muslims.The third chapter discusses the historical origins of Alashan Mongolian Muslims, including folklore, the point of view of scholars and historical documents from the archives in Alashan.The fourth chapter talks about the material life of Mongolian Muslims in Alashan in four aspects.The fifth chapter displays the ritual life of Mongolian Muslims in three aspects:the giving Birth, Wedding and Funeral.The sixth Chapter deals with the religion and folk festivals of Mongolian Muslims, as well as some new features of Mongolian Muslims religious beliefs in the new historical conditions.The seventh Chapter is the conclusion part.Nowadays, Mongolian Muslims has already gone out of the grasslands to development economy.
