Dong's infants and young children family education has been playing a very significant role in its history, especially in Dong's traditional society, because there was no specific education institution for infants and young children, families almost took all the responsibility of early childhood education. It's by family education that Dong parents help their children achieve initial socialization and nationalization, train up qualified successors who are consistent with social norms, thus ensuring Dong cultural heritage.Dong people also summed up their family education experience and traditions with Dong national characteristics in long-term practice, these traditions are not only an important part of Dong culture, but also an essential element for treasure-house of China's ethnic minority family education. However, with the development of history and social change, many of these traditions are undergoing change even extinction. So it's very necessary and meaningful to collect and summarize them, which will be helpful to protection and inheritance of Dong family education traditions.Meanwhile, we must understand that due to the low level of productivity and limited cognitive ability at that time, inevitably there are some negative elements in these family education traditions. Therefore, we also need to study and screen them carefully, analyze their various impacts on children's physical and mental development, provide a judge standard for inheritance and abandoned work.Sanjiang County in Guangxi has the largest Dong population in five Dong Autonomous Counties in China, and it's in southern Dong areas where preserve relatively intact traditional Dong culture, so it has a strong representation. For these reasons the author choose Dong traditional family education in Sanjiang County as the object of study, sum up its family education traditions on the basis of rich references and author's on-the-spot investigation. In addition, the author take the development psychology theory and family education theory as theoretical basis, analyze these traditions'influence to children's physical and mental development in both positive and negative sides, and try to find out what we can learn from them.There are five parts in this paper. The first part is introduction; it includes reasons for the research, core concepts, overviews of Dong ethnic and Sanjiang County, and research methods.The second part discusses the traditional marriage and family system's impact on children in Sanjiang County, one of the most prominent features is that Dong traditional marriage customs highlight the reproductive purpose, emphasize parents' responsibility, thus ensuring that children can grow up in a complete family. The third part focuses on Dong parents' nurturance in Sanjiang County, analyze their impacts on fetuses' and children's physical and mental development.The fourth part mainly discusses Dong families'traditional family education in Sanjiang County, it's divided into six parts according to the contents. The author studies their physical and mental impacts on infants and young children respectively.The last part is conclusion; it includes the author's summary and reflection, and the limitations and shortcomings of this paper.
