| The New Book by Jia Yi of West Han Dynasty has been carved or copied over and over again during the past more than 2000 years with many accumulated mistakes and slips left in it. Though these mistakes have been researched and corrected by scholars of past dynasties with their hard work and fruitful achievements have been made, some questionable points in this book were still left to us today, so I attempt to have a further try to rectify it on the basis of the research jobs of these predecessors.In this article there are two parts, Introduction and Research. In the part of Introduction, I mainly talk about the questions on the writer of The New Book, the year in which it was accomplished, it's circulation, research on it, it's versions as well as the origin, main points and research method of the related article Notes and Research on the New Book by Jia Yi. In the main part of this article Research I tried to correct the slips in the two aspects of characters in context and notes in the following articles, Rectification of and notes to Jia Yi's Collection by Wang Zhouming & Xu Chao, Rectification of and notes to Jia Yi's Collection by Wu Yun & Li Chuntai, Rectification of and notes to the New Book by Yan Zhenyi & Zhong Xia and Itemized Rectifications of and Notes to Jia Yi's Collection by Fang Xiangdong, totally in 67 points.There are 22 rectifications of context characters in this article and following are some examples"ä»°å…³"in Guo Qin (A) originally should be"å©å…³"and in Zong Shou"å²é—´"must be "å²é—»" originally. In Deng Qi"所以"was mistaken for"所æŒä»¥",while in Jie Ji the sentence天忔¹å®¹è€Œå°ä½“貌之也"should be corrected into"天åå°æ”¹å®¹è€Œä½“貌之也"to the origin. In the course of copying "白衣" in Nie Can Zi must have been mistaken for"自衣",respectively"人人悇憛"for"人悇憛","希盱而相告"for"希盱相告","连比"for"连æ¤"in Xiong Nu, while in Fu Zhi, Lian Yu, Rong Jing and Dao Shu, correspondingly''å爱"for"åæŽˆ","å¯å¼•而下"for"å¯ä»¥å¼•而下","å€ä¹‹"for"å€ä¸‹","所以接物","所以制物"for"所从接物""所从制物".In Tai Jiao the origin sentence in the context"其所以安å˜"was mistakenly copied as"其所安å˜'There are 41 rectifications of notes and interpretations. For example, in Guo Qin (A)the character'棘"in the sentence"锄櫌棘矜"can not be pronounced as"戟",in Guo Qin(B)thephrase"æ–ç„¶"in the word"æ–ç„¶å‘风"should be interpreted as being prosperous but in Deng Qi the characters"殿门"should not be understood as the gate of the palace. The words"æ–‡ç« "in"å¥‡æœæ–‡ç« "in Fu Yi should have the meaning of badges with veins or lines. In Jie Ji"(?)苟"means "Something is inclined or bent but not upright nor smooth, anyway, it is not the correct principle." also, the"å¼›"in"自弛"should not be pronounced as"(?)",the"诚"in word"诚æ»å®—庙"should be understood as an adverb just like the word really. In Su Ji, respectively,"期会" is used here to refer to appointment, the character"å¸"in the word"å¸äºŽæ— 廉丑"should be interpreted as another character"安"with the meaning of being satisfied with or ready to be some kind of state. The"ç«‹"in"ç«‹è°‡è¯"in Shi Bian should not be thought to the meaning as the word immediately and the"振"in"天䏋䏿Œ¯"can be seen as"æ•‘"meaning to save. The"次"in the word"生之乎,æ€ä¹‹ä¹Ž,次也"in Jie Xuan should be pronounced and understood as"æ£",the''希盱"in Xiong Nu means that someone reveals an expression of admiration in his eyes. In Huai Nan, respectively, the"缪维"means the intertwined ropes or chains, the"æ“…"in"擅仇人"means to make somebody to posses something, the"资"in"资力少也"should be poverty, and in Fu Zuo the"历"in"历天时"means to observe or to calculate. The character"乃"in"乃其æ£å"in Xian Xing can be replaced with"而",and the"é™"in"自é™ä¸‰å¹´"means doing nothing that goes against nature. In Yu Cheng"æ— ä¸»"means without emperor, and the"è§"in"è§ä¸å…¨èº«"should be pronounced as"现".In Jun Dao the"æ’¤"in"以手撤之"means to remove. The"惶"in"䏿ƒ¶"in Dao Shu should be understood as being puzzled. The"忘"in"æ’之天下而ä¸å¿˜"in Xiu Zheng Yu(A)should be pronounced and understood as"妄"and the"å³"in"æˆ‘å³æ»"in Tai Jiao has the same meaning as the word if. The"奸"in"奸为世å"in Li Hou Yi originally means to seek or strive for something.There are 4 rectifications of punctuations, for example, the sentence"å£å™é—»ä¹‹æ€’,'in Shen Wei, should be punctuated as"å£å™é—»ä¹‹,怒,"and in Xiong Nu,"天å下临人民,悹之。sounds even more reasonable than being punctuated as"天å下临,人民悹之。... |
