| Embedded operating systems have changed the development of the embedded system field, which increase the developing speed of the embedded systems. At the same time, PDA (personal digital assistant), as one of the most important products from embedded technology, is becoming better and better with the development of the embedded svstems. Nowadays. PDA companies abroad continue to put out theirnew styles of PDA products, on the other hand, PDA market in China is in a business depression. In order to solve the problem of the PDA market's bad situation, a systematical research on how to expand the functions of PDA products is put forward in this thesis.This paper is divided into two parts. The first part of this thesis is the research on the development of the PDA software system platform, which is based on the Kontron Embedded Development Board. Linux kernel version 2.6 is applied to implement the embedded platform, and Qt/Embedded is used to build the graphic user interface. All of them form an integrated PDA system.The second part concerns the function expand of the functions. GSM/GPRS and GPS are designed and implemented based on Motorola g20 and GARMIN GPS modules. An electronic navigation system is also proposed on PDA.At first, the actualities and shortage of PDA are discussed. To solve the lack of advanced and competitive products in China, the methods of expanding PDA functions are presented. In the first chapter of the thesis, not only the embedded systems but the technology and market of PDA are also introduced. After the first one, the embedded system and embedded Linux are described in detail. The thud chapter is the design and implementation of building an integrated embedded Linux system. Based on this embedded Linux, a simple graphic user's interface is realized by Qt/Embedded in the fourth chapter. In the fifth and sixth chapters, GSM/GPRS and GPS functions are designed and implemented. Finally, the factors that should be considered about embedded development are summarized. |
