With the IP revolution in communication networks, more and more IP networking equipment are applied in telecommunication networks, and modern telecommunication networks is increasingly going toward the IP revolution. How to manage the telecommunication networks under evolution has become a potential problem. Management of traditional telecommunication networks is mainly dependent on Telecommunication Management Network (TMN), but the most popular protocol used in IP networks management is Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and SNMP has become the de facto IP network management standard. Telecommunication Carriers that own telecommunication networks and a great amount of IP networking equipment face the difficulty of managing two kinds of totally different networks. In this paper, the author first introduces the framework, protocol, management information model of TMN and SNMP, then introduces advantages of XML, and points out the necessity and future application of XML technologies in Web based network management. Furthermore, the author analyzes current situations in network management system of Henan Mobile, puts forward a solution for the management of IP networking equipment used in telecommunication networks, and presents pertinent system structure and software structure. This is a feasible solution that can be used for the management of IP networking equipment in telecommunication networks. This solution is a networks management system with Web-style interface. When we analyze and design the software system, scientific software engineering design methodology was used to ensure rationality, usability, and completeness. It follows the operational model of SNMP, manager sending its requests to supervised nodes through browsers, then supervised nodes arranging management information, sending back to manager, finally, displaying on manager'screen. The difference is,it doesn't use SNMP protocol to exchange information, but use XML document to exchange information.
