How to abstract synchronization signal from received waveform is the key to modern communication and determines the performance of system. With the degradation in quality of received signal and complication of signal frame, the work of synchronization abstracting becomes more and more difficult, especially in one-direction communication environment. Aiming at one kind of burst signal in aforementioned environment, this paper investigates the algorithm of synchronization signal abstraction from IF (Intermediate Frequency) and its realization based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gates Array). Firstly, performance of Single Pulse Head Detection (SPHD) got analyzed, because of its lower reliability, Multi-Pulse Head Joint Detection (MPHJD) got analyzed too. In spite of some defect, analysis results illustrate the great improvement of detection performance. And then, inspired by correlator principle, we design Multi-Pulse Head Joint Correlation Detection (MPHJCD) and analysis results shows that it outperform aforementioned two algorithms. However, simulation of MPHJCD algorithm on MATLAB shows the fake synchronization in front of frame pulses due to the decision threshold. Therefore, a scheme adopting Signal Envelop Detection (SED) plus MPHJCD is introduced to eliminate such a defect. In the process of designing SED algorithm, we analyze Direct Decision, Multi-Samples Accumulation and Positive Negative Windowed schemes. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show Positive Negative Windowed scheme outperform the other algorithms. Furthermore, this paper discuss some aspects should be took into account to ensure its proper application. Finally, this paper presents the method to eliminate affection of single frequency jam, discusses the measure of bit synchronization acquisition, and induces search technique of optimal decision position. After some algorithms design and performance comparison, we arrive at the conclusion that the coarse synchronization scheme adopting signal envelops detection plus multi-pulse head joint correlation detection could acquire the coarse synchronization signal effectively.
