Succeeding the Internet technology, Embedded System is another up-to-date topic, which is gaining increasing discussion in the field of computer science. Thanks to its advantages of tiny size, excellent performance, low power dissipation, high stability and customization, Embedded System has been applied into extensive fields, such as military, consumable electronic products, network communication and auto control.So far, the hardware of Embedded System has been advanced to the stage of SOC (System on Chip). At present, SOC has two kinds of realization: SOC based on ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and SOC based on programmable logic device (SOPC, System on a programmable chip). SOC based on ASIC has advantage at performance. But, development of it is very difficulty, and fund input is relatively great in earlier stage. SOPC has the characteristic of design fast and flexibly. With the developing of programmable logic device, SOPC's performance has got very great improvement. In view of this, SOPC has got more and more extensive application. Nios is a kind of CPU that designed for SOPC specially. For embedded system designer, it's a kind of IP core. Nios has the characteristic of reconfiguration, which brings more flexibility to the designer. We can say that Nios has offered a kind of brand-new train of thought to Embedded System designer. The main research contents of this paper are to design an Embedded Ethernet Data Transmission Module. This module has the ability of Data transmission, and can be controlled remotely.By explaining the implement of Embedded Ethernet Data Transmission Module, the current paper illustrates how to use Nios Soft Core CPU to design Embedded System. The current paper begins with the introduction of the history, quo status and prospect of embedded technology. Then it analyzes the structure and mechanism of the Nios Soft Core CPU, in addition, analyzes the Avalon bus. It was ucos real-time operating system that adopted in the design instance of this paper. The current paper introduced the detail of its kernel and operating mechanism, and provides its transplantation method to Nios platform. Lastly, it presents the details of application layer code of the Embedded Ethernet Data Transmission Module.
