This essay is based on a national 863 project. The aim of the project is to create a 3-layered wireless mobile self-organizing network, which is constructed on the ultra-short wave channel. Thus the self organizing and communication is available on it. The whole network is divided into several subnets which form the structure of tree with 3 layers. Network channel is base on frequency hopping and spectrum spread radio stations. Because of the inter-connection of multi-layer subnets, the routing protocol consists of intranet and internet routing.This essay focuses on the intranet routing protocol, including the designing process, realization by programming and debugging and testing.First of all, the traits of the ultra-short wave channel are analyzed as well as the impact for the routing protocol. After that a conclusion is given out for the particularity of routing protocol design on this channel. Routing protocol usually use short packets to find out and maintain the routing information, which leads to the low efficiency. Thus it dose not fit the channel. Through the analysis of the network's size in the project, with the advantages of the existing routing protocols, we designed, by the method of inter-layer design in the link layer, a four-hop intranet routing protocol based on the toting technique.The advantage of link layer routing is the higher efficiency and quicker finding and maintaining of neighbors. With the toting technique, the neighbor information is stuffed into the frames when nodes are about to sending data. If none, HELLO packets are sent out periodically to give out the neighbor information. Toting technique is the primary method while HELLO sending is the assistant. In this situation, every node can be acquainted of the 2-hop topology structure easily and rapidly, and get the 2-hop routing information therefore. At the same time, the routing information beyond 2 hops can be received quickly through the on-demand method.Through the programming and test under the Linux operation system, the routing protocol is realized. In the lab, the integrality and correctness is verified under the simulation system. In the open country, a long-time test was done in the real field, which verified the efficiency and stability. In conclusion, it satisfied the demand of routing in the project.
