The National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest appeared for the first time on the Chinese mainland in 1994. The Contest involves many of the country's universities and colleges. The Contest has become one of the most successful and influential undergraduate subject contests in China. It seeks to promote students' creativity and team spirit, as well as a wide range of skills in electronic design and engineering. As part of the pre-Contest preparation, students need to design several practical module boards. The module boards enable the user to focused on some especial technical difficulties.By analyzing some themes of the Contest and productions, these modules usually include the microcontrollers, high speed programmable logic circuits based on EDA and the circuit used for extending the number of I/O ports. The author has designed a set of electronic development boards based on microcontrollers and CPLD/FPGA devices. The development board can be used to contract a practical system. Combined with these modules of the development board and some dependent programmes, the user can accomplish contest themes. Owing to using some high performance devices, there are some advantages in the electronic products, such as high speed, high riliability, miniaturization and low power consumption.This thesis is composed of such parts below: A development board was designed based on " MCU+CPLD/FPGA Architecture ". The microcontroller acts as the controll core, the I/O ports of microcontroller are extended by CPLD/FPGA. The development board consists of these frequent hardware modules such as: a D/A module, an A/D module, an all-purpose keyboard, a display module and so on. Subprograms which assort with the development board have been developed. The microcontrollers and the CPLD/FPGA devices are applied in the board, which helps to reduce the number of the circuit lines, therefore reduce the workload of designers.The development board can work well and stable after troubleshooting, it is adapt to electronic design contest.
