With the popularization and development of Internet, distant education is an important direction of the network multimedia technology. It breaks through the limitation of the space-time and brings great convenience to the learners. The real-time video education plays an important role in the distant education. It realizes real-time communication of the video/audio on the network between the teachers and students.Nowadays, distant education has been widely used in our country, but there are still some problems in the realization of the real-time video education. Network environment is gradually maturing, which makes the transmission of multimedia information become possible, such as audio, video and image etc.. The real-time video education has already had a very good network foundation. The proportion of various video frequency on the Internet has became much more than before. But for the hugeness of video frequency itself limited the transporting speed on the Internet. Then the compression of video frequency became an important part in the video transmission, and the technology of video frequency compressing has also become the key and core technology of the development of the real-time video education system.The video processing technology is the difficult point of the real-time video education system. Because of the advantages of the wavelet video coding in the course of video dealing, we will use it to design the real-time video education system based on the wavelet technology (W-RVES).By studying the theory of wavelet transforming, we designed the real-time video education system and discussed on the concerned basic technology deeply.This dissertation consists of the following parts: general introduction of theory of wavelet, basic concepts of COM. video compression technology based on Wavelet Transform and taking the plan of the real-time video education system based on wavelet and COM as the typical example.The key point of this dissertation is the research on the video processing technology based on wavelet. In the course of study on the wavelet technology, three dimensional wavelet transform based on bi-directional motion compensated was presented creatively. Compared with past three dimensional wavelet transform algorithm, the method combines two temporal scalable schemes: layer coding and 3D wavelet video coding. Bi-directional motion estimation/compensation is applied to 3D wavelet video coding to achieve high-quality scalable video coding.Finally, we designed the pure software solution of the real-time video education system based on the wavelet technology.
