In the recent years, more and more demand of data safety and reliability accelerates the development of network backup. In the current enterprise applications, there are centralized and distributed network backup systems.In centralized network backup systems, there was one or several computer in the network to work as servers, backup all data to these one or several servers by network. After all data was stored to the server, the administrator can manage all these backup data only by manage the servers. Centralized network backup system has the advantage of system is simple, low investment, easy to maintenance. But there are also some obvious disadvantages: First, while the data become more and more large, the demand of network bandwidth will increase rapidly. Secondly, in order to ensure the safety of the backup data, the system requires the network with excellent performance, accidents like network jam or network breakdown is not permitted. Third, as all the data was stored in the several servers, it requests the system has servers with high performance and high reliability.Distributed network backup system selects all available nodes in the network as backup nodes. It divides one file into several file block, then store these blocks to several nodes. In the system, there was one server, which didn't take the responsibility of storage data but only manage the states of nodes. Data was transferred between nodes. As the server only manage the states of nodes, so the investment of server was low and the server is easy to maintenance. Take all available nodes as storage nodes will increase the usage rate of network resource. Because of these advantages, more and more concern was given to distributed network backup system recently.Network coding is a new communication technology, which can promote the throughput significantly, and can strengthen the reliability of the network service. In order to improve the performance and efficiency of the network backup system, in this paper, we introduce network coding into distributed network system, we analyze, design and realization the system. In comparison with the centralized network backup system, this system has the advantages of less cost of server, better reliability and better utility of bandwidth. What's more, with the technology of network coding, our system has better performance in successful rate and Transmission speed.
