| With the development of economic globalization and informatization, the new global division of labor is to accelerate the formation and continuous adjustment. The knowledge economy and innovation increasingly important for countries, regions and cities to maintain and enhance competitiveness. in this process. Both knowledge and innovation ultimately need the support and the development of related industries. In this context, the R&D industry is particularly attracted worldwide attention the R&D industry arouse the world attention. This is determined by the characteristics of R&D industry. It is a new industry which development with the outsourcing worldwidely of research and development services and expansion of foreign R&D activities by multinationals. In fact, the R&D industry is a new high-end service industry, it can bring not only direct economic benefits, more importantly, to promote the technological upgrading of the manufacturing sector and improve labor productivity, thus contributing to improve the manufacturing sector in terms of quality and quantity. Therefore, the R&D industry is growing quikly in worldwide, especially in developed countries and regions. Meanwhile, it also attracted wide attention to whom a large number of scholars with different disciplinary backgrounds. Scholars have noted that the spatial distribution of the R&D industry is not balanced and began to explore the law of the R&D industry and the evolution of its space location from the space view. But the scale of research data for the industry is generally to macroscopic(provincial), while the micro-scale research is relatively limited. This paper attempts to make some efforts to the research about the R&D industry spatial distribution in Yangtze River Delta region. This paper takes the R&D industry in Yangtze River Delta region for example, explore the spatial distribution of the R&D industry in Yangtze River Delta region and the development of the R&D industry from time and space dimensions. Its impact factors and dynamic mechanism have also been analyzed in this paper. The paper can be divided into seven chpters and five parts as follows: The first part includes the first chapter. Chapter 1 is the introduction. This chapter mainly defines the concept and categories of the R&D industry, introudes the background, the objective, the method and framework for the study and outlines the main elements and innovation of the study, summarizes the previous studies on R&D industry and pionts out the main target of the study. The second part of this includes chapter 2/3/4, they are the main body. Chapter 2 analyzes the development process of the R&D industry of domestic and the world. Chapter 3 analyzes the spatial structure of the R&D industry in detail, demonstrates the spatial characteristics of the R&D industry cluster. According to the features data and spatial data of Yangtze River Delta region 2008 and 2004 R&D enterprises. Charpter 4 discusses the impact factors on spatial agglomeration of R&D industry. Chapter 5 is the third part of this paper, it takes shanghai for example, uses diverse methods to reveal the mechanism of R&D industry dynamic pattern, and examins the conclusions above; Chapter 6 is the fourth part of this paper, it summarizes the agglomeration dynamic mechanism of R&D industry; Chapter 7 is the fifth part, it is the conclusions and the prospects. This chapter outlines the main conclusions and the research prospects.During the course of the study, we found that there is an obvious differences of space features of R&D Industry in the Yangtze River Delta between regions and interior of cities. R&D enterprises mainly concentrate in the Shanghai- Nanjing axis and Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo. The trend of multi-center development of R&D Industry is significant. The main spatial agglomeration centers are Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Ningbo. Spatial agglomeration point and the axis between them constitute the spatial characteristics of the R&D Industry together. The study found that market size, knowledge spillovers and the size of government have significant impacts on the R&D Industry agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta. Case study of Shanghai R&D Industry agglomeration to some extent confirmed the above findings. This paper analyzes the dynamic mechanism of R&D industry agglomeration, and make a number of specific policy recommendations to promote the development tand growth of R&D industry. |
