The Rise And Evolution Of Emerging Industries In The Yangtze River Delta Region

The21st century is the era of information at the core of computer network. This advanced information and communication technologies take mankind into a new society. The emerging industries, born to high technology are often able to promote the progress of society and reconstruct the space development of a region. Recently, a new generation of information technology has been established as one of the seven strategic emerging industries of the country, being the focus of governments at all levels to promote and construction. The study to research the rise and path pattern of emerging industries can provide a useful reference and regional development strategies and policies for state and local governments.Currently, geography shows a dynamic of evolution. Especially in recent years, the Economic Geography Economic and Evolutionary Economic Geography appear, which pioneer the field of geography and extend the scope of geography. With the help of these new theories and new ways, we can solve many economic and social matters that the existing theories and methods cannot explain. With continuous researches of Evolutionary Economic Geography at home and abroad, we can do research of evolution of industrial development dynamically, by applying clustering mechanism and dynamic theories and methods.The Internet of Things, this strategic emerging industries are rising in China in recent years, which slowly push society into a more intelligent direction. State and governments at all levels have also spared no effort to promote the development. And now in the country the Internet of Things also gradually showing cluster momentum, mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing, Tianjin (Bohai) and some Midwest individual provinces. In several cluster areas, the Yangtze River Delta is the origin of the concept of the Internet of Things and is also the first place to start to development. So, to use the latest theory of Evolutionary Economic Geography to research the Internet of Things industry in Yangtze River Delta region, we can understand the rise pattern and the spatial layout of emerging industries. Thus, we can provide the reference and practical value for other regions, and provide scientific theory of industrial and regional development for governments.Therefore, this article is divided into six chapters, the first chapter describes the background and significance of the study, the main content and research methods, and introduces the main ideas and innovations of this paper. Chapter II sums up the latest developments of the related theory of the sort. The third chapter studies the situation and the organization of domestic IOT industry chain from the perspective of urban space and the level of industrial chain. Chapter IV, from the evolution of economic geography and path dependence perspective, summarizes the path patterns and characteristics of several key cities in the Yangtze River Delta, when IOT industry rose. Chapter5, using the Cox proportional hazards model, measures the factors that influence companies’ survival, to indirect explain the evolution of the IOT industry in Yangtze River Delta region. Last chapter summarizes the main conclusions of this study and makes a forecast of follow-up study on this topic.
