Along with the reform of state-owned enterprises in our country, it has stepped to a crucial period and stage and still continue to widen the area of reform. In this situation, we need to explore new directions for reform. In previous studies, we are more concerned about the affected group of the reform, such as the laid-off workers and so on. However, we ignored enterprises that are survived in the reform. Those enterprises are really experienced the whole process of the reform and are the practitioner in the future reform. Study on the living conditions of that group is of more practical significance. In the field of anthropology, there are many field investigations of daily life for a certain group. That is also an important anthropological research methods whose purpose is to discove the regular basis and problems through observing and discription for the daily life of the certain group. Also in the factory research, anthropologists use the methods of field investigations to describe the daily life of the workers. They discover the living habits and related problems through the description of the daily life. The factory D is the representative old army factory in the old industrial city of Harbin which has got rid of the reform difficulties. The field investigations of D factory workers have the typical description of living condition for the state-owned Enterprises’ workers. To show the living conditions of workers in state-owned enterprises through observing and studying the daily life of the workers. The society has a complicated assessment of living conditions for the state-owned Enterprises’ workers. The deep subjective impression of those people cannot represent the living condition for the state-owned Enterprises’ workers. Through the field investigations we hope to reflect the living conditions of workers in state-owned enterprises more clearly and to provide the foundations for the future reform of the state-owned Enterprises.
