India has become recognizably a huge market economy after ten years of liberalization reform since 1991. Tremendous progress is being made in India's participation in the world multilateral trade system. India is expected to play a more active and constructive role as a "leader of developing countries" in future trade negotiation rounds. The basic objective of this study is to summarize India's valuable experience in defending its national interests by proficiently applying WTO rules in its domestic reform.This study covers five major areas, which are the origin of India's involvement with world multilateral trade system, India's status both in WTO organizational structure and its trade negotiation rounds, India's experience in participating WTO negotiation and applying WTO rules subtly, the use for reference of India's experience for China and the future for Sino-Hindu collaboration in WTO. The characteristic of this study is to evaluate India's WTO commitments and its negotiation positions by sectors, which provides an insight view of the interaction between India and WTO.
