China's Coking Industry Status And Development Proposals

As a type of solid fuel, coke is widely applied in metallurgicalindustry , which sharing 80% of the total consumption. In thiscircumstance, the 2004 China-Europe coke trade friction drew globalattention, which turned China coke industry into an unbalancedphase—full of harsh phenomena: elementary duplicate construction,overproduction capacity, serious pollution and resources waste, etc.How to lead China coke industry into a sound development is the coreissue to solve in this paper.This thesis paper composes of six chapters with preface andconclusion attached.The surge of the steel production brought about thesudden rise of coke demand. In chapter 1, it analyzes the overallperspective of the rapid development in coking industry during 10th5-yrs planning. In chapter 2, it analyzes the global coke production anddemand from the aspects of steel production volume and the supply &demand of coking coal on the global interface. On the basis of thepractical figures listed in the first 2 chapters, it explains, in chapter 3,the current situation, which is structure adjustment is a requisite to ournational coking industry, and it also expects that its development isentering steady increase stage. In chapter 4, it penetratingly analyzesthe six major problems existing in China coking industry: productioncapacity, environmental protection, resources waste, technology andmanagement,etc. In view of these problems, in chapter 5, it raisessuggestions on the industrial development in connection with the relatedstate policies and the environment both at home and abroad. Last but notleast, as to the provoked coke export, it proposes on how to maintainthe current stable and healthy development in chapter 6.In order to enable China coking industry to step into a favorablecycle and stable development, much needs to be done in the followingfields: 1. to research on industrial development strategy in line with theconcept of scientific development, so as to ensure the sustainabledevelopment of the industry;2. to strengthen on structural adjustment;3. to clean out backward production such as primitive oven coke andmodified coke;4. to implement the Acceding Qualification of CokingIndustry to rigorously enforce the new capacity benchmark;5. to guidethe existing enterprises to standardized development through cokingindustry acceding noticing system;6. to encourage coalition &recombination to raise the industrial integrity and competence;7. topermit new coke companies with satisfactory demonstration and steadycoke customers;8. to enhance environmental protection supervision;9.to support coke production to "Go Global" while inviting resources andmanagement to "Come to China";10. to transform coke productionfrom the pattern of resources consumption to resources economizing orto the way of new industrialization;and 11. to promote the steadydevelopment of coke export.
