With the success of the GE Company, 6 Sigma management method improved by Jack Welch is well-know all over the world. It becomes a shinning star in management field.6 Sigma is a continuous improvement strategy. It targets for reducing variation and defects, improving pass-through rate & customer satisfaction and increasing net income through analyzing relationship between input and output of processes and optimizing processes. It is a breakthrough in problem solving.This thesis implemented 6 Sigma method on a cylinder-block in KW moulding line of Yunnan Power CO., LTD, in order to effectively reduce its defective rate. In the process of this project, the thesis did research on 6 Sigma method and established a detailed scheme about how to apply 6 Sigma in KW moulding line. The thesis is mainly on:The thesis introduces basic theory and developing course of 6 Sigma, and then expatiates the core part of 6 Sigma quality management-DMAIC mode and 6 Sigma organization frame. After defining the project, the thesis counts the cylinder-block defective rate to find out the most common happened kind of defective-blowhole defective, and then uses some related tools to find out influencing factors in measure phase. The thesis filters out the distinct factors from the original influencing factors step by step in analysis phase, and then optimizes the distinct factors through DOE to reduce the rate of both blowhole defective and casting defective in improve phase. The cylinder-block defective rate will be controlled at a low level-2.7% in control phase.
