Organic pigments manufacturers are facing real challenges and opportunities today. On one side supply chain management is requested to be improved to overcome inventory surplus, undeveloped technical supporting service, high distribution cost and unsatisfied customer service level etc. From the other side, the competition of organic pigments is so tough that current business model could be inapplicable the market, efficiency of integrity supply chain must be enhanced by business model reformation.In the paper, six major models are summarized to image current and potential business models of pigments industry, both advantage and disadvantage are analyzed for each model. Production speciality and current development status of pigments are concerned, a classic organic pigments manufacturer is offered to probe into what is the best business model and most efficient supply chain management. Conclude from analysis that business model reformation must be the precondition of progress of supply chain, and the success of supply chain will be the key for business growth and lead to a superior market position.To grow to be a"Essence"company will be future target of pigments manufacturers, but due to the present ability of controlling core technologies, it is too risky and difficult to run business by all toll manufacturing means. However, with the progress of supply chain management and more controlling power of technologies, organic pigments manufacturers will be real"Essence"companies in the future.
