The coal resources of Huainan make great contribution for local economic development. But the resulting surface displacement, deformation and sinking destroyed the local environment and infrastructure. Therefore subsidence area protection management job is imminent. Second, the geographic information system, as a mature geographic information technology, has been widely applied to research and related projects, and its spatial analysis, visualization and auxiliary decision-making techniques provides good technology platform and optimal system solutions for coal mining subsidence evaluation and management.The technology this virtual-reality system used comes from the most popular software of 3DGIS, Skyline. This paper is divided into two parts, data and function realization. Data production includs surface modeling and building modeling. Terrain data deal with ArcGIS Desktop software and Skyline software. Building and other surface-stuff models maked by 3DMax. Then components of the whole final scene completed in TerraExplorer Pro. Second, based on the Skyline's second development, this system realized GIS function by calling Skyline interface and using CSharp language on the platform of Visual Studio2005. Finally, this system provides GIS functions of 2D-map as a supplement for 3DGIS system, using ArcEngine technology.This article elaborates the background of mining subsidence 3d visualization both as home and abroad and functions of virtual reality systems. Chapterâ…¡summarizes the characteristics of three-dimensional GIS technology and theories related to the GIS system. The third chapter describes technical route of system development, database design and system design of the overall function modules. Then the fourth chapter details implementation of three-dimensional visualization and business analysis functions by using third-party controls of Skyline and ArcEngine.
