Due to the rise in living standards, "living and environmental conditions" becomes one of the most attention hot topics. However, in the process of unban construction and renovation, increasing height of buildings and continuously shortening the distance between buildings lead to fewer and fewer residential sunshine, which enhance the conflicts between the quality of sunlight condition and improving the utilization rate of land. Therefore reasonable to determine the orientation of buildings and the impact of distance and shadows to meet the sunlight environment quality requirements of the residents has become an important problem that must be considered in current planning and design.With the development of three-dimensional GIS technology and the increasing deepening of the study on three-dimensional sunlight analysis model, traditional manual calculations and sunlight analysis system based on two-dimensional CAD platform have been difficult to meet the urban planning program in the fast and accurate sunlight analysis of the sunlight requirements. Therefore, this paper proposes to build three-dimensional building sunlight analysis system by using three-dimensional GIS and three-dimensional sunlight analysis model.Firstly, this paper introduces the basic parameters of calculating sunlight times and shadow. The paper analyzed the calculation method of buildings'sunlight time and distance based three-dimensional GIS on the basis of the building sunlight analysis of traditional manual calculations and two-dimensional CAD.Secondly, in depth analysis of Google Earth three-dimensional modeling and development methods, three-dimensional building model are established in this paper, the overall design and the functional module design of the building sunlight analysis system based on three-dimensional GIS are carried on. Finally, the building sunlight analysis system based on three-dimensional GIS has been developed, which put Visual C++ 6.0 as the developing environment, Google Earth COM API as component technology.
